Nigeria: Police Foil Attempt to Bomb Enugu Airport


Enugu and Lagos — The Police in Enugu State thursday foiled an attempt by suspected terrorists to bomb the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, in Enugu.
Also, the Nigerian Army thursday said it killed five suspected Boko Haram members and destroyed a bomb-making factory in Rigasa area of Kaduna State.
But the police in a statement by its Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amaraizu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said the operatives of the Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) of the state Police Command arrested four persons, including a driver in a vehicle with registration number KJA 359 AP.
It was gathered that the suspects were heading towards the Airport in the morning hours of yesterday with some items believed to be dangerous fireworks contained in two cartons, one packet of celebration thunder of 10 shots candle.
The statement further disclosed that the suspects were already helping the police in their investigations at the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Similarly, the spokesman of the 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Col Sani Kukasheka, said in a statement in Kaduna, that the early morning raid was carried out in conjunction with other security agencies.
